The Fish Pot
your comments review this restaurant
My new husband and I visited the Fish Pot on our honeymoon in June 2008. Because it is the off season in Barbados, we felt we would have no problem getting a table without reservations. We showed up to a less than half full restaurant so we knew we could get a table, yet the host inside acted as if it were a chore to seat us without reservations. While it was supposedly so difficult to "find" us a table, there were many many other tables empty for the entire 2.5 hours we were there.
Anyway, we got past that bit of rude service, and received excellent service and wonderful food throughout dinner. The excellent service ended when the wait staff removed our plates from the table after we were finished dining. We each still had most of a martini left, so for the first 20-30 minutes we waited we weren't too bothered. However, when we sat for another good 30 minutes after finishing our drinks, we both became very aggravated that we had not been even acknowledged for the last half hour. As I mentioned previously, the restaurant was still half full at best, so it's not that the wait staff was extremely busy. It is for this reason that I give the service a 2 out of 10. The middle of our dinner was wonderful, but the greeting and the ending was not indicative of a nice restaurant. I want to emphasize once more that the food at the Fish Pot was excellent, but the service was the worst for us on the island so far.

The restaurant is marvellously located, on the water's edge- and the sound of the waves as they came ashore was soothing and relaxing. I found the decor and furnishings enhanced the atmosphere.
The service was excellent, some of the best I have encountered in Barbados restaurants. The waiting staff was extremely attentive, cooperative and polite.
The food was very, very good and well-presented. Let the name, though, stand as warning for those who don't like fish. Most of the menu was fish and seafood, with prehaps one/two selections each of the usual meats.
By Barbadian standards, the restaurant is somewhat off the beaten track (unless you are resident in the north of the island). Since most accomodation is in the south and west coast areas, this may also apply to tourists. But its well worth the trip.

I visit the Fish Pot at least twice a year and always find that their lunches far exceed their dinner menu offering.
Catch of the Day and a couple of VERY potent rum punches is a perfect way to spend an hour or so.
When booking, ask to sit inside, next to one of the large windows overlooking the ocean - this is where those in the know dine - best views and better fans!

We love the Fish Pot! We usually try to get there for dinner but this year we could only make lunch. Still the same excellent food - the tapas are recommended - and friendly service. All with the beautiful views of the Caribbean. Dining inside or out on the terrace it's an experience not to be missed

Our party of six came in for lunch on a January afternoon. Every single possible thing was just perfect. We all had different entres, and each one was presented as beautifully as they tasted.
The service was impeccable, and as usual, friendly as could be. The wine list is impressive, but moreso, our selection came out chilled to crispness.
