May 2010. Awful. Great-outlook with refurbished ground floor beachfront. However all effort gone into style with no substance. Service slow
Food awful - blackened fish was just fish with a thick uncooked slime of wet brown gunk........
Waited ages for bill - only came when threatened to walk out
Never go again, NOT recommended

The food was good. Meanwhile, it was overpriced and the waitstaff was argumentative and slow. There apparently was a shortage of menus when we came; as a party of seven we got two. It took several requests (over the period of half an hour) by us until they finally took our order, followed by another hour of waiting, at which time we asked after the status of the food. They told us it was on the way. Twenty minutes later we asked again. On the way. We had to threaten to leave the restaurant to recieve any service whatsoever, and when we, yet one more time, brought to the waitstaff's attention that we had waited for over an hour and a half, it began the following banter:
"Well, you were at the bar"
"I'm sorry, you must be mistaken, nobody went to the bar" (nobody had)
"One of you did go to the bar"
[chorus of no's]
"But it hasn't been an entire hour and a half; I took your order at 9:02. I wrote it down"
This truly is the pinnacle of service quality in the world. I know there's nothing I enjoy more than being accused of lying by my waitress about the duration of time I've waited.
Rudness does not beget good service.
If you would like to overpay for food, enjoy slow service, and have a hobby of debating waitstaff, feel free to visit Mangoes by the Sea. Otherwise, skip it.

An altogether unpleasant dinning experience. The food was very overpriced, and took an hour and a half to arrive. The staff were unobliging and wholly unapologetic. During our final complaint - the waitress accused us of lying about our arrival time.
Not worth the wait, and unfortunate to come across people who taint the otherwise friendly, warm, and hospitable reputation of Barbadans.

I will never eat at Mangos again.
We were a group of 10 arriving a the restaurant a 7pm for a wedding anniversary and birthday party.
The meals arrived two and one half hours after we sat down. Meals were cold and over priced. After complaining to the staff, we were told " at least the meals were warm.
It is obvious this restaurant cares little for some of its clients as others were seated, served and left before we ate.
I felt very sorry for my friends as this was a very important evening for them and they went to Mangos for this special occasion.

This restaurant was recommended to me so me and my husband decided to go there for dinner on my birthday. The hostess was very polite and seated us promptly. The appetizers arrived within 20 minutes of ordering which was noteworthy. Also our server was very helpful and even offered to take our picture which looked great. He also knew the menu well and his recommendations did not disappoint. The weather was very cool but not chilly and the ambiance is indeed quite refreshing as its along the beach and you do see the waves as they crash upon the shore with a few lights from neighbouring properties in the distance which gave it a very romantic appeal.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and it does have very savoury and delicious cuisine and the staff were friendly and offered good service. The only minor drawback was that they had not done anything special for my birthday even though they were informed by my husband when he made the reservations. I know some restaurants do something for patrons on special occasions such as give them a slice of cake or even sing Happy Birthday. I won't hold that against them though as it was probably an oversight.
All in all its a lovely place to dine.

We found Mangos by chance after driving around looking for a restaurant
and we'd definately go back. It was not the cheapest restaurant to dine in
with a steak at £25 but it was well worth it, as it was large and full of flavour.
The meat on the ribs was plentiful and the chicken dish was superb. Everything
was bursting with flavours. There was a group of 8 of us including 2 kids and
they had a great kids menu and even gave them colouring crayons and a picture.
Service was excellent from start to finish with nothing being too difficult. The little
one has overdone the sun that day and was feeling cold and one of the staff gave him their cardigan. Mangos is definately a must when we go back!

I was recently in Barbados on a sight inspection trip for Travel Agents. We had dinner on Saturday, Sep. 22 at Mango's by the Sea. Since we were a group of 12, a special meal was pre-planned for us. The Baby Back Ribs were offered as an appetizer and the best I have ever eaten. Our entrees consisted of Lemon Grass Chicken, Marinated Duck Breast and Tropical Blackened Fish.
I chose the duck and was quite pleased.
What did not please me, however, was the extremely poor service from our initial drink orders to the desserts. This is not a large restaurant and the staff knew they had a group of 12 travel agents critiquing this establishment. We spent 3 hours at this restaurant because of the poor service.
On a positive note, the ocean view from this restaurant is magnificient.
